Setting

Basics:

The setting is simple; it's a modern town! Not too urban, not too rural, there's a bit of everything, including a little bit of wilderness, a beach, all kinds of shops, anything you want. Why aren't I being more specific? Because it really is anything you want. The setting shifts subtly day to day so the beach might be different every time you visit, and that tea shop you were at last week might now be a movie theatre. The woods out back could now be a lake. Or maybe it's the same for weeks and weeks, whatever is convenient for you. The main idea is you can handwave anything from a quaint tea shop to a 99 level crypt dungeon into existence at your will.

The exception is player-run stores; those will stay the same unless the players running them wish otherwise. And a few landmarks like town hall and the arrival apartments tend to stay the same.

Your character on arrival:

Your character will arrive in the same apartment building everyone arrives in! It's a nice apartment you've got, fully stocked with furniture and amenities and food and clothes. You have a cell phone that can't be destroyed or lost that has access to the internet, a shopping app (you can buy literally anything; nachos to pet dragon), and your bank balance which seems to be set to infinity. So living doesn't seem to be an issue.

Living arrangements:

Apartments in the arrival building can have up to 5 characters, they can be very big luxurious abodes, so if you want to arrive together or appear in a friend's apartment as a new roommate, all good! Or maybe you arrive in a single-person apartment. Sometimes those get surprise overnight upgrades though, if players find they want it.

All living arrangements like roommates, furniture, apartment style etc are player-decided.

Other homes can be purchased (townhouse, mcmansion, dump by the river, shady shack? sky's the limit) but for the sake of forcing characters to interact it takes one OOC month from arrival for deeds to be purchasable and all characters must spend one night a week one of the arrival apartments or they will be randomly transported into someone else's bed. This of course is totally optional it's just there to give you a way to get characters to keep interacting. Or make new friends!
